NURSE LED SERVICES

 

The services provided by our Practice Nurse and Health Care Assistant are many and varied and include the following:

 

·          Blood Tests

·          Blood Pressure monitoring

·          Dressings

·          Removal of stitches

·          Ear Syringing

·          Taking Swabs

·          ECG tests

·          Contraceptive and HRT checks and advice

 

·          Cervical Smears – the doctors recommend that all women between the ages of 25 and 64 have a cervical smear test at regular intervals to help prevent cancer of the neck of the womb.  Currently the recommendations are 3 yearly smears between ages 25 to 50; and 5 yearly smears between ages 50 to 64.  We operate an automatic recall system for women patients whose smears are due.  If you are aged between 25 and 64 and have never had a smear, please make an appointment with the Practice Nurse.

 

·          Nurse led disease management clinics e.g. diabetes, asthma, coronary heart disease, hypertension.  The purpose of these clinics is to review patients’ condition and discuss and advise on ongoing management.

 

·          Childhood Immunisations

·          Holiday vaccinations and travel advice

·          Minor injury & Minor illness triage

·          Stop Smoking – practical help and advice for patients who would like to give up smoking.

·          New Patient Health Checks

 

·          Routine Health Checks.  Patients aged 75 and over are invited to make an appointment with the Practice Nurse if they have not been seen for over one year, to discuss their health. Patients aged between 16 and 74 are invited to make an appointment with the Practice Nurse if they have not been seen for over 3 years, to discuss their health.

 

 

We have nurse appointments available during lunchtimes on Mondays and Wednesdays and if you are working you may find it more convenient to come and see us during your lunch break
